Welcome to the first theme of the month post (replacing the monthly emails).

Affirmation: “It is safe for me to begin again.”

We often believe when we commit to a circumstance in life, we have to stick with that decision for the rest of our lives. A career choice, a university degree, a relationship, a town – whatever it is. If we change our minds or realise those choices weren’t right for us, we can feel like a failure. Instead we choose to hang in there, and to persevere, even if we are unhappy or struggling.

But you don’t have to. At any time in your life you can choose to begin again, to start fresh, to embrace a new beginning when it presents itself. Being a 1 month, June is the perfect time to ‘Begin Again’ in any area of your life you want to. The only permission you need, is yours.

So this month when new opportunities present, go for it. Take action, be courageous, aim big.

Your 2018 Card Reading

12/30/2017

The overall card for 2018: Epiphany. This is a year of joy through spiritual growth. You are on a quest to discover your true self.  Answers come from meditation, so if you have been putting off committing to a spiritual practice, now is the time to get started. You may keep to yourself this year as you ‘get things done’ but it’s not a time of loneliness. There is inner joy and finding your source of happiness within instead of from external sources. Be a light to others.  Walk your talk. If you find yourself getting down or negative, turn it around quickly as your words and thoughts are powerful creators this year.
January: Ten of Ariel. There is much to be grateful for. Be sure to give thanks for your life, for the changes you have made and to yourself and those who support you.  Your finances are improving, or you may adopt a getter financial plan or way of living this year. You will enjoy happy times with friends or family this month. There is great support around you. Long-term investments will be made or pay off this month. Some of you may choose to travel. Keep life fun, even when you’re working hard and focusing on life goals and changes.
February: Nine of Gabriel. Don’t give up. Stay determined and move forward with courage. Protect what you have worked towards. Be prepared for any possibility. You’ve proven your worth, now have confidence in who you are and what you can achieve. Be out in nature, start a vegetable garden, consider a more plant based or organic diet.
March: Knight of Ariel. There is so much to accomplish. Make a detailed plan. Slow and steady will win the race even if you feel pressured to rush ahead. Being watched over by someone kind. A garden is again showing up and will in some way support your abundance – you may sell your produce, or save money by growing your own. Your health may improve because of dietary changes you are making. This could be a month to change jobs or to start planning for a job change. Things you plant now will be successful.
April: New Beginnings. You are starting a new life in some way. You are finding your purpose or renewing your dedication to your life purpose. A forgiving and compassionate review of the past may be needed. What have you learnt, what can you let go of, what can you do differently? A happy family life or being watched over by divine source or a love one who has passed. Supportive friends help you to get past obstacles.
May: Eight of Gabriel. A great deal of activity, things are moving at a fast pace, delays are over. There are sudden and immediate results.  Communication is important now, speak clearly, confidently and kindly. There is a lot of support around you but you may not see it. You are building momentum and moving forward. Stay grounded (time in nature can help with this).
June: Seven of Ariel. You have invested wisely. Have patience and wait for the harvest, some plans will take longer to develop than you may have first thought. It’s worth the wait. Review your progress and make plans for your next endeavour. If you have unfinished business, now is the time to get it done so you can move on to the next exciting adventure or project. Feel the magic this month, what are you manifesting with your thoughts and talk?
July: Two of Michael. It will all be better if you just make a decision. Are you overanalysing a problem or hoping it will go away? Find a compromise that works for all involved. You may need to make a choice between two options. Your heart and mind are at odds. Look beyond the current decision – which one will make you happier long term? Trust in your ability to make the right decision. A temporary fix may help get things moving again.
August: Page of Gabriel. Follow your passion! You are ready for any challenge. Opportunities for excitement and adventure are headed your way. You may need to step out of your comfort zone to see just who you can be. You have a blank canvas now – what would you like to do with it? You may need to look out for friends or family or be a support person now in some way. Keep positive, be confident, take a chance and embrace life.
September: Divine Guidance. You may find yourself searching for the meaning in life this month. You don’t have to do it alone, surround yourself with wise teachers or friends. Do something good for someone else or a cause that’s close to your heart this month. Review your goals and intentions for 2018. Are you on track? Have you wondered off? Do you need to review and revise and change plans or tactics? Consider an alternative approach. Be open to the ideas and suggestions of others, but know you ultimately get to choose what is best for you. Walk your talk.
October: Ace of Ariel. It’s your lucky day. New resources of money, time or support flow to you now. A change in job, a promotion or new business may be on your mind this month. Changes you make now will be successful. You may meet someone who is instrumental in these changes.  The heavens are shining upon you now. Your finances are looking good this month. Invest in you.
November: The Moon. You have the opportunity now to improve your plans. Listen to your intuition for accurate guidance. Face your fears and grow stronger! Spend quiet time alone and connect with who you are and what you want. The energy is good now to really connect with your intuition, commit to a meditation practice or new way of living that is healthier and ‘more you’.
December: Four of Gabriel. It’s time to celebrate! Abundant rewards for hard work are yours. You can enjoy some rest and relaxation now all of your hard work has paid off.  Release yourself from burdensome situations or people that hold you back. Take time out to dream and plan for next year. You are watched over and life is good. There could be important events such as an engagement, marriage or living together as a couple this month. This is a time of stability and peacefulness. Your life probably looks quite different now compared to the start of the year, in a good way!

Be proud for showing up - not the outcome!

What an amazing day of singing and being inspired by Per Bristow in Sydney!

The biggest take home messages were using fear, frustration and failures to learn and grow towards your goals, and letting go of the result, instead focusing on the process. Often this leads to a much better outcome anyway, and even if it doesn't, celebrate that you showed up and did it, learn what you can do differently and go again. If you can do this you might take a little longer to reach your goal, but you'll like have longer-lasting success using this approach.

And of course in the Universes synchronicity, when I met up with my kids for lunch, my oldest was disappointed in herself because she went on a roller coaster for the first time, and clung to her little sister crying all the way down. With Per's words ringing in my ears, we could turn the experience into a positive one for her - even though she was scared she did it anyway!

An amazing achievement for anyone, and something most adults need to be reminded of - celebrate your progress, celebrate your effort, reward yourself every time you face your fears and do it anyway. You will grow so much more through that than the end results.

Have a great weekend everyone! Xx

Letting Go.

10/22/2017

On Friday I dropped my kids at school and headed to the gym. Before starting my workout I ducked into the loo. And wouldn't you know it - someone had done a #2 and hadn't flushed.

My first reaction was anger - seriously how hard is it to flush? And what if someone thought the stench was mine? And then I remembered that I'm trying to focus on the lessons and signs that are leading me to live a more empowered and enlightened life.

And then I saw the humour in this smelly message from the Universe. This wasn't my mess - just flush it and let it go!

How often do we take on other people's 'stuff' as our own? How often do we react from fear or anger rather than being in the moment and going within and recognising what it is we are actually reacting to? Why do we let one small annoyance dictate the direction the rest of our day will take?

So I flushed it, did what I needed to do while enduring the previous odours (I'm a Nurse, this really isn't an issue), I laughed at the message I had received (if it's not your issue let it go), I was grateful for a lesson learnt (notice the signs, be present in the moment, don't sweat the small stuff, don't react in fear of what other people will think or assume about you...), I did my work out and got on with my day, positive and optimistic for the day ahead, and I ended up having a great day.

Before you go to sleep tonight, check in with yourself. What are you holding on to that's not your issue? What are you reacting to that's actually not the real issue? What can you let go of? And what signs did the Universe send you today?

Music.

10/22/2017

Recently I was visiting my Nan in her nursing home. There was a lady there playing the piano accordion and singing a lot of old songs, and it was amazing to see several of the residents singing along.

Many of them with dementia or Alzheimer's, that have lost the ability for attending to daily activities and functions, were able to recall the words and sing along! Even those that weren't singing were smiling or clapping.

Music is a universal language and a beautiful way to communicate and bring people together. Music touches your soul. How often do you hear a song and it takes you back to a moment in time? That song you first slow danced to with a boy at a school dance? The songs you listened to on your first road trip with your girlfriends? The song at your wedding or a song played at a funeral of someone you loved?

Music can take you back in an instant, and it can bring people back in an instant, even if only momentarily.

We played this song at my Uncles funeral many years ago, and every time I hear it I stop what I'm doing and think fondly of my Uncle John and the amazing man he was.

What song is meaningful for you?

Relationships are like a jewellery box.

10/22/2017

Relationships are like a jewellery box.

The box is empty in the beginning, and both people bring a few issues, beliefs, past experiences or 'baggage' to the relationship - a few necklaces in the jewellery box.

There's plenty of space in the box and it's easy to separate the necklaces. But as time goes on, more and more necklaces get thrown in to the jewellery box. You might notice they're starting to get tangled and you should probably spend some time sorting them out, but life's busy and other issues take priority. You know it will take a little while to sort. It will be messy, frustrating and time-consuming. And maybe you just don't have the time or energy for it right now.

But before you know what's happened, the box is full of necklaces, all tangled and intertwined and the box is starting to break. At this point you realise you really need to sort things out, and you try to untangle the necklaces. But it's difficult to tell where one ends and the next begins. You might find one end of a necklace that you can get a hold of and try to free, but the harder you pull on one necklace the tighter the knots around the others become. The more frustrated and angry you get, the more strain you put on the jewellery until inevitably they start to break.

Eventually you might decide the box is too broken to repair. And when you look at the mess of all the tangled and broken necklaces you try to pinpoint the one thing that caused the break. Which is the one necklace you can blame?

But truth be told there wasn't one necklace at fault. It was years of adding more and more to the box, not taking the time to sort them out, just assuming the box could take more and more, year after year.

And sometimes there is just so much 'stuff' in the end, it's impossible to sort it out. But you realise that while the box is broken, while you cannot fix it or no longer want to, you can salvage a few pieces. You don't need to find something to blame, but recognise the whole beautiful mess for what it is.

You can love the broken box, but you don't need to keep it or mend it. You don't need to keep unpacking it. You can be grateful for it, and choose to move on. And hope you've learned a really important lesson.

Don't assume it will all be ok, even when the cracks start to show. Sort things out as they happen - don't even let them make it into the box if you can avoid it. Take the time to treat the things most precious to you with love and respect. And don't take anything for granted.

Because one day you might look back and see past all the mess, to those original two necklaces, that just needed a little more care, love and attention.
